What if the period that an employees' medical examination is valid expires?
Due to the coronavirus crisis, no examining physicians are available, so some employees will not be able to be re-examined on time. This is a case of force majeure, so the Dutch State Supervision of Mines (SSM) will not enforce the requirement to have a valid medical examination. However, mining companies must monitor the health of their employees more accurate than normal. As soon as examining physicians are available again, the re-examinations must start as soon as possible.
Agreements on this have been made between the examining physicians and the NOGEPA industry organisation.
